Come Celebrate Christmas with Us Sunday, December 24 at 10:30a.m.

What Will You Give Christ this Christmas?

With all the excitement of gifts, good food and time with our loved ones, it’s easy to forget the real purpose of Christmas. We must remember to not only celebrate Jesus’ birth, but His gift to us! The best way to honor him is to strive to become a little more like Him in the coming year. What will that look like for you? What will you give Jesus for Christmas? We hope first and foremost you will give Him yourself, by receiving, His gift of eternal life, by proclaiming Him as your personal Lord and Savior. Everyone has to decide for him or herself what would be the most meaningful gift. How about magnifying the gifts and talents you’ve been given? Is there someone you have not forgiven or whose forgiveness you must seek? How can you exemplify the gospel of peace in order to draw others closer to Christ? How can you share what God has done in your life with someone else? Can you look for more peaceful resolutions to your conflicts to become a minister of reconciliation for Him?  Maybe a written note to Jesus that represents something that you are willing to give to him in order to become more like Him in the year ahead? A commitment to be more loving, kind and generous. Perhaps give up a destructive habit or an addiction? Become more diligent in praying or reading the Bible? Maybe it’s committing to give to a specific need you’re aware of? Just pick one gift and let that one become a way to thrive in your relationship with the Savior in 2018. Hopefully, with some effort that change will become a habit over time.

2017 is the Year of Our Church's 10th Anniversary!

The Focus for 2017 will be "Devoted"

We’re starting a new series or rather theme for our church for 2017. It’s called Devoted. Our verse or passage as a church is Acts 2:42-47, where the Church exploded forth through the power of the Holy Spirit and the preaching of Peter. This first group of baptized Christians filled with the Spirit devoted themselves to several things: The Apostle’s teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayers. We’ve broken it up into those four aspects and are doing different things each month to help devote ourselves to what those early believers devoted themselves to. "And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." Acts 2:42 ESV

Memory Verses for 2017

January - Hebrews 4:12-13 (ESV) 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

February - Psalm 119:9-11 (ESV) “9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. 10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

March - Matthew 7:24(ESV) “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

April - 2 Timothy 3:16-17(ESV) “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teachingm for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God be complete, equipped for every good work.”

May - Psalm 19:7-9 (ESV) The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether."

June - Psalm 19:10-11 (ESV) "10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

July - Romans 8:31-32 ESV "31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

August - Psalm 119:130 "130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

September - Jeremiah 15:16 ESV “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts.”

October - 2 Peter 1:20-21 ESV “20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

November - Romans 10:17 “17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

December -  Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Make Plans to Do LIFE Together by Joining a Life Group for this Semester!

Reminder, our Life Groups take a rythm of rest during the month of August and December.

A Life Group is a small group of people, who seek to live life together in Christ. Life Groups provide a place where people can connect with one another as fellow Christians, and develop a sense of community and family. Life Groups are the heartbeat of our church life, and there is one just right for you! Most Life Groups meet in people’s homes for a special time of fellowship, prayer, encouragement, and Bible study, just like in the early church.  (Acts 2:42-47) Several meet right here on campus on Wednesday nights.  There are Life Groups for every age! Look under "Groups" to see which one fits you! Want more information on these opportunities? Go to http://www.faithfellowshipstpete.org/groups/ for a list of this semester's Life Groups.

Life Groups change up their rhythm during the summer and in the months of August and December to have a time of fellowship, community celebration and a service project as they prepare for what the Lord has them studying the next semester.  Click here to register.
